How to choose
Compare jurisdictions by five criteria: whether your activity needs a licence, who your clients are, how banks view the jurisdiction, how much maintenance costs and how well the jurisdiction is understood by investors.
Options in the UAE
- Dubai, VARA. The virtual assets regulator for Dubai outside DIFC. Suitable for services that work with clients. More
- ADGM. Abu Dhabi’s financial centre, with virtual asset regulation. More
- DIFC. Dubai’s financial centre, with a regime for crypto tokens. More
- Free zone. For Web3 development and companies without licensed activity. More
Other jurisdictions
There are other centres for crypto business around the world: Switzerland is often used for foundations and token projects, Singapore and Hong Kong are known for strict licensing, and the Cayman Islands and the BVI are used for funds and holdings. Conditions differ considerably, and we bring them in for a specific task together with local lawyers.
How to decide
- Determine the type of activity and clients
- Find out whether a licence is required and which one
- Check whether banks are ready to work with such a company
- Compare the cost of launch and maintenance
- Agree the structure with a lawyer
Regulatory requirements change quickly. Before launch, current conditions must be verified with a virtual assets lawyer. The decision to open an account is made by the bank. Tax consequences depend on your residency.
